All good things come to an end.

I come to you today, with some news as gloomy as the weather outside.

After nearly four years of serving the Pittsburg community, Sonder & Co. is announcing its closure at the end of this year on December 31st.

As many of you know, Kailey and I started Sonder as students. And from graduations to marriages, things look a little different for us now. With so many life changes since Sonder's birth, we have decided it's time to close this beautiful chapter of our lives that you and Sonder have given us. Please know that this was not an easy decision for us, and knowing we were no longer going to be your shopping pals has been one of the hardest parts.

Fortunately for us all, Pittsburg has changed so much since we brought Sonder to it. When we started, we wanted to fill a need we saw in our community. A need for space that promotes Pittsburg as a whole, not just as a university town. To provide a space for smaller brands to grow and become more recognizable within our community; to prove that shopping local is affordable and realistic. Thankfully, more of those spaces now exist and we are excited to announce where many of our brands will be available following our closure.

Please know that each of you have left such a huge mark on my life. Opening a business is scary, but opening one while in college is downright insane. The support and love each of you has shown me along the way have empowered me not only as a businesswoman but also as a human being. You really can succeed at whatever you put your mind to.

I never thought I would be a business owner, I often wondered while in college if I would ever be “successful.” But as I sit here, writing this, and think about the past four years of Sonder’s (and my) life - I have never been more proud to have accomplished anything. Thank you, Pittsburg for giving me that, for making that happen. I am undoubtedly a better person for having experienced this business and this community in such a personal way.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for trusting me and Sonder with your Christmas gifts, birthday cards, organization’s t-shirts, or just pick-me-up purchases. It has truly been such an honor. We will continue to operate as usual through the holidays, so please come and shop with us one last Holiday Season! We will have an amazing selection of holiday items and gifts available starting Monday.

We will host a large liquidation sale for our inventory and furniture items the last week of December. Please come and shop with us one last time.

Again, thank you so much for everything you have done for us over the past few years. The success Sonder has experienced has and continues to amaze me.

Sonder is- "the realization that each random passerby lives a life as vivid and complex as your own." We believe that Pittsburg is now in a place to carry on the essence of Sonder on its own.

We hope that you all continue to live a Sonder-ful life. We love you.

With all my love,

Brittan Brenner-Wilde

A special thank you to the following people:

-My co-owner, Kailey Pearson, for being the ingenious designer she is and for joining me on this insane ride.

-My parents, Justin + Brandi Brenner, for all the love and support you’ve given Sonder from the VERY beginning.

-Our fairy godmother, Sydney Anselmi, for connecting the dots and always assuring us that we could do it.

-My sisters, Kaedra + Tarynn, for being the best backup employees. For painting windows, decorating, counting shirts, making deliveries, anything I asked in the name of Sonder.

-Lastly, to my amazing husband, Josh, for ALL the encouragement. This year has been insane - we bought a house, I changed jobs, we got married - it's been beautiful but it's also been really hard to juggle it all. He’s always caught the balls I dropped and made sure we had everything we needed. You are the greatest partner.
